About the OVO Jordan 10 Customs: OVO Air Jordan 10.. Six years ago I created a pair of OVO Jordan 1 customs by painting Drake’s most popular lyrics in the same style seen on the iconic Eminem/The Way I Am Jordan 2s. I replaced Eminem’s handwriting with the typeface seen on the cover of Drake’s album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Ever since the OVO Jordan 10s released to the public I’ve always wanted to use them as the base shoe for a similar Drake themed custom, but the $400 resell price has always deterred me from doing so. Fortunately, a client gave me the opportunity to do so last Summer.. In June 2020 a Drake fanatic contacted me with one request: recreate my OVO Jordan 1 customs using the black OVO Jordan 10s as the base shoe. The OVO theme is my most requested job, but no one ever wants to pay the hefty price tag associated with it. However, this client put his money where his mouth was and had the base shoe ordered and shipped to me instantly. As soon as they were delivered he sent over a list of some of his favorite Drake bars and gave me the freedom to fill in any remaining space with whatever I wanted.. I started by prepping the shoes, and let me just take a moment to say that it was heartbreaking to acetone and sand such high-quality sneakers. Next, I laid down numerous yellow base coats to make the following layers of gold paint appear more saturated. After I finished airbrushing the gold layers I shaded the main upper panel with bronze (a.k.a. dark gold), removed the tape, and touched up the edges of the panels.. The lyrics on the original pair of OVO Jordan 1s were fully painted by hand. With the experience I gained over the last six years I could have easily used stencils to accomplish a similar design, but I felt that would dumb down the details and make them less personal. I ended up creating stencils of all the lines the client wanted but used them solely to figure out the placement and spacing of each word. It took a couple days to place every single letter by hand, but that was the easy part. Once all the words were placed, I removed each letter one-by-one and brush-painted them in black and bronze. Each line was painted a different color so that they would be easier to read.. Since the first OVO customs I made were released shortly after IYRTITL dropped, there were plenty of new Drake projects for me to pick bars from. That being said, these customs feature a variety of lines from Drake’s entire catalog. Once all the lyrics were painted onto the uppers of each shoe there was one last detail left to add that I didn’t include on the original customs: the OVO owl and wordmark which I painted in gold on the quarter areas of each shoe.. These customs have been finished and ready to release since July 2020, but I wanted to wait until Certified Lover Boy came out to drop them. I can safely say it was well worth the wait and I’m excited to finally unveil these. Stay tuned for more cool projects dropping throughout the year!.
We only work with authentic base shoes because fakes are lower quality. If you try to supply a fake shoe we will decline the project.
Customs done on used shoes do not last as long due to the wear and tear that they’ve gone through prior to being customized. If you would like us to customize a pair of lightly-worn shoes you will need pre-approval from us.
Our average turnaround time is 2-6 weeks, but this varies project to project and is based on design complexity, workload, and more. Custom jobs are completed in the order that they are received unless a rush fee is paid.
All of our custom work is durable and can be worn though we advise against putting your custom shoes through a lot of stress or constantly wearing them for sports. The more harsh the conditions you wear them in, the more likely they are to receive damage just like any other pair of shoes.
