About the Space Jam: A New Legacy Air Jordan 5 Customs:
Space Jam: A New Legacy Nike Air Jordan 5. Shortly after I released my All-Star Game Jordan 3 customs I was invited to be a guest on Complex’s Twitch-based live show called One of One. The show features a variety of artists across different mediums who come on for two, two-hour sessions and create their work live while also answering questions and chatting. The base shoe I chose for my stream was a pair of 2013 Fire Red Jordan 5s, but as the date for my stream rapidly approached I still had absolutely no clue what I would paint on them. Thankfully on a Saturday morning two days before my first live session I woke up to the release of the first Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer and instantly knew how I’d customize the Jordan 5s. I opened up Photoshop and immediately started running through various versions of Space Jam designs. The final version I cooked up was fairly simple and inspired by a mixture of my recent All-Star Game Jordan 3s and the redesigned Tune Squad uniforms unveiled in the new trailer. I went with the same turquoise blue that is dominant on the new jerseys and decided to outline each panel of the Fire Red 5s with orange and navy blue pinstripes. I placed a “Tune” on the toe box of the right foot shoe and “Squad” on the toe box of the left shoe. Finally, I wrapped up the design by placing the Space Jam: A New Legacy logo on the heel of each shoe in the same style seen on the hat that Lebron James posted to announce the movie in 2020.. I didn’t want to use my airbrush during the first One of One show because the air compressor would have been too loud and the overspray would have definitely gotten all over the streaming equipment that Complex had sent me. With that in mind, I spent most of the day before the first show airbrushing the sock liners of the Jordan 5s black and then painting the rest of the uppers in turquoise blue. I finished off the show preparations by painting the midsoles of the shoes yellow and orange with red shading to imitate the iconic rings featured in the Looney Tunes logo and on the sides of the Tune Squad shorts and jerseys.. Monday came around which meant it was time for the first One of One live stream. I spent the majority of the first show chatting with the host, Jake Polino, while touching up the turquoise uppers and outlining the leather panels of the shoes with orange. Time flew by and it was over before I knew it. The following day I continued to outline the panels of each shoe with orange and navy blue. I also began to paint the new Space Jam logo on the heel area of one of the shoes. When it was time for the second session on Wednesday it became apparent that I would not be completely finishing the customs during that stream. I did a couple of live customizing contests back in 2014-2016 so I already kind of knew that the time restrictions meant I likely wouldn’t finish in time. I just hoped to finish or come close to finishing one of the two shoes so viewers could have a better idea of what the finished product would look like.. The second live stream was way more relaxed. We talked a lot about future plans for HaveAir, custom sneakers, basketball, and more. By the time it was over I had come close to finishing off one of the sneakers, but unfortunately wasn’t able to complete it. Although I was disappointed that I couldn’t complete one of the shoes, I still had a blast and was really grateful for the opportunity. Back in high school I religiously passed time in class by scrolling through Complex’s website reading the latest sneaker news, music release dates, or random intriguing stories. Complex was one of the last major sneaker blogs that hadn’t covered my work at one point or another so it was gratifying to finally be able to check them off the list and feel like my career had come full circle. I had a great time being on One of One and enjoyed the challenge of pulling together a design and painting a pair of custom shoes in such a small timeline. Stay tuned for more cool projects dropping throughout the year!.

Base Shoes and Production:

  • All of our custom-painted sneakers are created with Angelus Paint from Angelus Direct.
  • We only work with authentic base shoes because fakes are lower quality. If you try to supply a fake shoe we will decline the project.
  • Customs done on used shoes do not last as long due to the wear and tear that they’ve gone through prior to being customized. If you would like us to customize a pair of lightly-worn shoes you will need pre-approval from us.
  • Our average turnaround time is 2-6 weeks, but this varies project to project and is based on design complexity, workload, and more. Custom jobs are completed in the order that they are received unless a rush fee is paid.
  • All of our custom work is durable and can be worn though we advise against putting your custom shoes through a lot of stress or constantly wearing them for sports. The more harsh the conditions you wear them in, the more likely they are to receive damage just like any other pair of shoes.
  • If you are a sneaker artist and want to paint similar custom shoes, check out our custom sneaker how-to guides and large selection of vinyl stencils for custom shoes!
